But somehow we just can't seem to see ourselves achieving the same results and give-up when we fail to see the results we desperately desire. The first thing is to make the commitment to lose weight, not just saying that you want to, but by setting yourself some achievable goals. We all know its not going to happen overnight but if you set a reasonable target weight goal for say 3 and then 6 months we have something to aim for. Take a long hard look at yourself in the mirror and then visualize how you will look when you achieve your weight loss goals. This can be the new you!
Secondly you can start by making small changes. If you take the bus to work try walking one stop further before you get on, or getting off one stop before you normally do. If you drive to work try parking slightly further away and walk just a little extra to start with. Apply this to any car journey you make such as shopping or going out to eat and you will find that this soon all adds up. If you normally take a lift or use an escalator, try walking the first flight of stairs to begin with or stopping on the floor below where you want to get off.
Finally, select a sensible weight loss plan and stick to the diet and exercise rules, remembering the new you that you have visualized. This is where many come unstuck in the battle to lose weight. You will not lose weight continuously and by the same amount week after week, and many become disheartened if they have a bad week. Keep in mind the bigger picture and stick to the plan. Ditching the diet at the first sign of problems or hopping from one diet plan to the next without really giving any weight loss plan a chance will not help
