10 Easy Steps to lose weight

1. Read food labels! To help with your goal to lose weight you must pay attention to food labels, as
counting calories or points is very difficult to.

2. Find and online weight loss buddy to lose weight with. A University of Vermont study found that online weight-loss buddies help you keep the weight off.

3. Try and eat something every three hours to keep you satisfied and your blood sugars steady.

4. Once you have reached your goal weight or dropped a size or two give away your "fat" clothes as this gives you an incentive not to put the weight back on.

5. Do not skip meals! Rather than cutting calories, cut the meal portion and that will cut down the calories in turn.

6. Drink plenty of water; we're made up of over 70% of water so it makes sense. Water also keeps you hydrated, alleviates bloating and improves your sense of well being.

7. Exercise will help you lose and maintain your weight. Start off walking briskly for 10-15 minutes and then over time as your fitness level increases exercise, increase your walking to 45 minutes a day. Exercise also increases your metabolism which increases your ability to lose even more weight.

8. Portion control is paramount. Initially weigh everything, and once you get the hang of it you can eye the right potion amount. You can also help yourself here by downsizing your dinner plates and your wine glasses.

9. Keep a food diary. That way you can see what you eat and can add the calories per day. This helped me immensely as you have to think before you eat. You can also pick up your eating habits, so you can identify the changes that need to be made to get you to healthy eating.

10. Eat slowly and calmly, take your time, put your fork down, have a sit of water. Your brain lags your stomach by about twenty minutes in relation to fullness signals. If you eat slowly enough, your brain will catch up to tell you that you are no longer in need of food.
